Check your area for ‘day old’ bread stores. Our town has 2, both being Mrs. Bairds. This is where the bread and rolls come to around their expiration date. In my town, I can get 2 Thomas English Muffins for $3.00 (compared to around $5 in the grocery store). They carry some chips, cookies and spices also. Bread freezes, so you can make one trip and freeze some!
Check the dollar store for your spices. I’ve paid .50 for what Walmart carries for $2.29.

Most dollar stores now carry bread for $1.00.
The dollar store is the place to buy your birthday/holiday cards and bags! Why pay $3.59 or more for a gift bag when you can get 1 or even 2 for $1.00.
Check for coupons in the Sunday paper or online. But be careful – only use the coupons for items that you normally would buy anyway.
Many generic products are still cheaper than the brand name with a coupon. So shop smart.
Watch the prices on larger items. We think that buying bigger, like one large can of beans vs. 2 small ones, is going to be cheaper, but not always.
